Bridgnorth is celebrating the Birthday of Harry Potter and saying thank you for taking down the Dark Lord!
The picturesque town of Bridgnorth in Shropshire is set to transform into a magical realm on Wednesday 31 July 2024, as it comes together to celebrate the birthday of the beloved literary character, Harry Potter.
So get dressed-up, grab your wand and join in the fun with this immersive, town-wide event!
Most events are free to attend or may have a nominal fee, there are trails across the town, prizes to be won, animals to see and the most beautiful, magical town to explore!
…ohh and it’s for grown-ups as well as children!

Get Sorted
Visit St Leonards Church and get sorted into your House! Sorting Hat ceremonies are being held throughout the day at:
10am; 11am; 12pm ; 1pm; 2pm; 3pm
In addition, there will be scroll making, create your own comic strip and more!

Meet The Owls
Come and meet the Owls and find out all about them with Battlefield Bird of Prey Centre and Shropshire Falconry.
The brilliant team will tell you all about the Owls and are even offering personal handling sessions (for a min. donation of £3) if you want to get up close!

Discover the Creatures of the Dark Arts
Come along and meet, Trevor, Aragog, Pickett and even Nagini, get up close and personal with them and lots of their animal friends and be put under their spell!

Severn Valley Railway
Visit the Severn Valley Railway and experience what it would be like to travel on the Hogwarts Express!
*Travel on the trains will require a ticket purchased from the Severn Valley Railway.

Deathly Hallows Trail
Collect your event map of Bridgnorth and decipher the clues to find the Deathly Hallows hidden around the town.
Everyone who completes the trail will be entered into a prize draw to win our magical prize… a Large Family Freedom of the Line pass for the Severn Valley Railway!
The trail will take you around our brilliant town and encourage a little exploration and magical knowledge to decipher the clues!

Ordinary Wizarding Level Examinations
Would you like to sit your Ordinary Wizarding Levels and see if you would pass?
Test your knowledge of the Harry Potter books in subjects like Charms, Potions and Defence Against the Dark Arts.
This activity is for avid fans (the exams are hard!) and are based on the books (not the films!).
This event has been funded by Bridgnorth Library and Bridgnorth Town Council.

The Dark Mark
Discover the magical story behind Lavingtons Hole and explore the Caves in Bridgnorth’s low town.

Create your Own Monster Book!
Join in the fun at Bridgnorth Library with an interactive craft session where you can create your own Monster Book!
Suitable for children aged 6-11 years old. Children under 8 years must be accompanied by an adult. Places are limited so booking is essential.
Book your place with Library Staff. Session times 10am-11am; 12pm-1pm. Sessions are FREE!

Film Screening - Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
It’s the 20th anniversary release of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Experience the film on the big screen at the Majestic Cinema. Fancy dress encouraged! The screening will start at 5pm and Tickets are required from the Majestic Cinema.

Close-Up Magic
Want to see some ‘real’ magic?
We are being joined by the astonishing Careena The Witch Magician who will be on hand to surprise and astonish!
Is Careena a real witch or a very clever Muggle? It will be up to you to decide!
Careena will be performing under the Town Hall throughout the day 🧙♀️...pop by and be amazed!

Wand Work Lessons
Lacking confidence in your wand work? Head over to the Castle Gardens for lessons in stance, wand movements and flare!
Sessions are at 10.30am, 11.30am, 12.30pm, 1.30pm, 2.30pm & 3.30pm
A temporary anti-magic charm has been used on the castle Gardens to ensure no magical accidents happen while you are perfecting your techniques!
There will be lots more events on throughout the day yet to be announced.
